Time to Kick the Devil Off its Horse: On Sudan
Why do we ignore the largest humanitarian crisis in the world?

Humanitarian crises are not a measuring contest or any sort of opportunity to make your situation seem worse than others.
Here at The Line - we seek to bring light to overlooked stories. That is part of our editorial mission. Personally, I was a junior in high school when I first learned about Sudan and watched the documentary -
"The Devil Came on Horseback."
I kindly ask anyone who reads this to please find that documentary.
Today, this crisis and civil war receives little to no attention from Western media. What reports we can find only confirm that aid is dwindling rapidly for this region. Darfur and Sudan are facing the largest famine in 40 years. Fourteen million people are displaced.
Again there is no competition when it comes to which crisis, war or country is suffering more.
We will hear talk of USAID being defunded and how we are fighting for refugees in Ukraine, Gaza and the United States is stretched too thin. This is a fallacy.
We must not allow indifference to win the day. We know what is right, what is wrong - any human can look at any crisis and know without a doubt what is okay to allow to continue and what we are not willing to let people endure. This is not a call for leadership from any one country - it is a call to ensure that we do not turn a blind eye, simply because a region or an area is not financially attractive.
True solidarity can only come from connecting with each other as people, and knowing that in the long term you might need them. This is a senseless war that should not be allowed to continue.
Too often our special interest groups and the best paid lobbyists will steer what the media covers. How do they sleep at night?
I strongly urge you to donate to these two top rated charities:

Additional Background:
In April 2023, Sudan’s two most powerful men—once allies—launched a war for control of the country.
General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan commands the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo leads the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary born from the Janjaweed.
They helped oust a dictator in 2019. Staged a coup in 2021. Promised democracy. Delivered none.
When pressured to hand power to civilians, they chose blood over compromise.
Now Sudan is in freefall.
- The capital, Khartoum, lies in ruins.
- Darfur is burning—again.
- 14 million people have fled their homes.
This can not be a forgotten war.
It’s a war we chose to forget - but why?
